Good. Marvel should have never broken up Peter and MJ. MJ is a fixture in the Spider-Man comics. In Spider-Man: No Way Home, it was unnecessary for Dr. Strange to make the world forget Peter Parker. Dr. Strange could have made the world forget that Peter Parker was Spider-Man. For some unknown reason, Marvel wanted to make a sad movie, near Christmas at that.

American war machine?

That's been a serious problem for at least 4 decades, and this support for Israel has caused 30,000 innocent deaths. What I've asked you about is evidence of God's intervention. If we are to believe the book of Zechariah as inofrmative of current circumstances, where's the potential evidence that this could be reliable? One can believe in God without believing in prophesies, or in every aspect of the story of Christ. That belief in God can be used by the Quaker United Nations Office to lobby against Israel's cuelty. This is a group I belong to. It's a way of believing in God and working toward peace. That to me is a way of working with God today.

When men fight their wars without God, they face harsh consequences. God will also address the killing of the innocent people of Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and all the other nations that have been attacked by the once-great America.

Remember that the people of Jerusalem crucified the Son of God many years ago, so they do not have a history of being holy in God's eyes. They have been as wicked as Sodom and Egypt. The Lord himself will bring the nations against Jerusalem. Watch and see, if you live long enough, how the entire world turns against them, even the United States. But also those same people that fight against Jerusalem shall suffer this horrible plague.

So what should we do? We should not fight against Jerusalem, but let God be their Judge. Why are we fighting against any nation? The Lord God no longer defends America. We should keep our peace and love our neighbors as ourselves. The US military should not be meddling with other nations far from home, unless they are going to bring mercy and help.

It cannot be a coincidence that they named this movie: Judgment Day. What does that mean to you? Who is the Judge? How will he judge this world? What is the judgment?

It seems to me from the mood of trailers this is a kind of cautionary tale - "that's how it could all turn out".

Wiki says:

In the near future, a team of journalists travel across the United States during the rapidly escalating Second American Civil War that has engulfed the entire nation, between the American government and the separatist "Western Forces" led by Texas and California. The film documents the journalists struggling to survive during a time when the government has become a dystopian dictatorship and partisan extremist militias regularly commit war crimes.

Zack Snyder wrote and directed a scene where a crated robot, is unboxed, sitting amongst other boxes, people carried there, and is handed a box for him to carry elsewhere. The man is so stupid, he can’t even create a scene of carrying boxes. How, why is he allowed to make movies? by Questionable in Movies

[–]Questionable[S] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Everything in the scene is wrong.

  • They keep the robot in a box.

  • The robot's crate is new

  • The robot is old and warn

  • How did they move such a massive crate containing a heavy duty robot to it's location to the center of the clearing alongside the other boxes?

  • why did they not offload those boxes to their actual destination? They flew them there after all.

  • how did they move those boxes, when they only have fighting robots and not moving robots?

  • Were there moving robots not shown?

  • The box the robot is packed in is filled with cool air for some reason that rushes out.

  • They pick up a box for a robot to hand it to it, thus doing more work than the bot will do carrying the box

  • They are flying around with excess weight they need to off load

  • There aren't even enough boxes to warrant unpacking the bot

  • This excess weight includes one single fighting robot, out of an entire army that refuses to fight.

  • They carried the box containing the robot to that location, as apposed to simply having it walk to that location

  • There is no reason to have a garrison, or any of that gear at that location

  • Again, why is the bot in a box?

  • The few boxes that need to be moved were moved to that location, only to be moved to another

  • Zack constructed this scene to give the audience information, while simply not understanding the logistics of moving boxes efficiently, utilizing the robot in the scene.

It would be easier to list the number of scenes that make sense in this movie, as that list would be zero.

I get what you're saying, but the world Herbert created is on par with LOTR. It's an amazing look at humanities potential, tens of thousands of years into the future. I couldn't put those books down and I'm usually pretty cynical about adaptations, but Villeneuve did an amazing job. I'd love to see God Emperor of Dune made into a movie. The Leto II sandworm/human hybrid alone would be worth a ticket.

If Messiah is dark, I don't think it should be made. Let people remember Dune as Paul being a hero and his romance with Chani. Don't break people hearts. There is enough sadness in the world. Let people see a movie and be happy for a few hours.

True, they do at that. And they're doing a great job in the movie for my money. Messiah is actually the 2nd book and I like where it goes. There's no real heroes in the Dune Saga. It's a wonderfully complex universe and even Leto II, who manages to change everything on Dune (e.g. turn it from desert to lush, green planet among other things) has to do it at the cost of his own humanity. That being said, and while I'd love to see all four main books (and possibly the 5th, Chapterhouse) become movies, I don't think people would like them as much as the first book. Don't get me started on the books his son and another dude wrote. I thought they were fun, but they're very divisive among fans.

Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya make a cute couple. It's good that the movie makes them central characters. It will draw their fans. I read that the third book, The Messiah is dark. Villenueve should be careful about following the book too closely. People might not want to see Paul become a villain. If he is the villain, who is the hero? If there is no hero, the movie would be saying that all leaders are villains. Would people want to see that?

Chani isn't really a central character. Villenueve is pushing Chani up to that role likely due to marketing. The first installment saw this as well. There was an emphasis on presenting it as an updated version for 2021 audiences. Rebecca Ferguson even said they had to because Herbert was a chauvinist (inferring that all men were chauvinist in the 60s when it was published). Ironically, women are powerful characters in the universe, holding the strings on genetics throughout the ruling class of the universe. It's DEI horse shit peeking through. Still looking forward to it and the first one was good. It'll be interesting to see if he does make the next book into a movie. Poor Chani.

Spider-Man 4 a dark movie? by Dune1032 in Movies

[–]Dune1032[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Why would anyone want to make a dark movie? One would think that people would want to make movies that make people happy like Spider-Man: Far From Home compared to the dark Spider-Man: No Way Home. Perhaps some people live dark sad lives, and their movies reflect this. Marvel should have Spider-Man 4 undo the sad events in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Having lost Aunt May and the love of MJ, I would have Peter Parker begin drinking heavily and have a death wish. In one battle with the Avengers, Spider-Man shows a reckless disregard for his life. The other Avengers admire Spider-Man’s courage but Dr. Strange knows the problem and takes him to the Sanctum Sanctorum to talk to him. Mr. Wong tells them that Aunt May isn’t really dead because she was killed by someone from another universe. Instead, her spirit is in the Netherworld. If nobody retrieves her after a time, she will die. A creature resides in the Netherworld and will fight anyone who enters it. Also, only a person who deeply loves the person can retrieve the spirit. Consequently, Spider-Man will have no help from other Avengers. Of course, Peter eagerly wants to go. He is successful. Mr. Wong tells Peter and Dr. Strange that since Aunt May has returned to life, he can change the spell so that the world forgets that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, not that he exists. A happy movie that will make viewers happy.

Very rarely, but I did do one on Ladyballers and then reviewed the movie. But that was pretty straight forward.

I appreciate your consistent approach to reviewing upcoming movie trailers. My typical take away involves similar sentiments as your own when watching these trailers, sometimes having a slightly different view but usually I find your perspective insightful and enjoy the commentary.

Do you ever consider revisiting your rants after watching a whole film post-release?

I recently rewatched the Godzilla (2014) series again and was pleasantly surprised at how watchable they were. Despite verging well into the ridiculous, I thoroughly enjoyed them.

This is what happens when shitty women that even other women dislike, manage to sleep, con, and accuse their way into positions of power. You get modern Disney. Add in ESG incentives to hire these clowns and you get woke culture.

I grew up in Philadelphia, which is the San Francisco of the east coast. MOST women there are like that, and on top of it, few of them are legitimately heterosexual. (They're all "bi," which is just a codeword for dykes. That city really is hell on Earth and San Fran's twin.)

Yeah that might have done better. And also tie the movie into another upcoming big avengers movie, that helped the first Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel's story line was good. A woman who thought she was fighting an enemy, the Skrulls which turned out to be the victims whereas her friends were the real enemy. Also, she was struggling to recall her past. The Captain Marvel sequel should have had Carol Danvers continue to find her past.

Yeah it made a billion. I think though since then, it was like 2018, awhile ago, people retrospectively decided they didn't like it because of Brie Larson being annoying. Disney saw that, maybe had polls or something showing it, hard to not notice it, so they put two other characters in it, a black woman and a muslim woman, thinking that'd help get black and muslim people to the movie. That didn't work. One thing I noticed, the first Captain Marvel had Jude Law in it, kind of a famous white guy that women think is hot. This new Marvels movie didn't have any white men in it except for one henchman for the bad guy who has a manbun. And not played by a well known actor. I think that's part of why women didn't come out to the movie. They like to see hot guys. And the audience was mostly white men, like most superhero movies, but not in a huge amount because they didn't see anyone that represents them in it.

Good. Bout time we moved on to the next big thing. And who thought Captain Marvel would be a big draw anyway? It's not a very popular comic book is it? Certainly nothing like Spiderman, X-Men, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, etc. Add to it Brie Larson's nonsensical woke crap and I'm surprised this ever got made.

Maybe that’s just what I’ve been wanting.

Well-said. Any test audience could have told Kevin Feige they're not identifying with Captain Marvel, that Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck and Geneva Robertson-Dworet are terrible writers and don't understand story-telling, or this particular story, or teenagers, or - well - much of anything.

The MCU can't blame the SAG strike because they could have delayed release of the movie. They might have thought that with other movies such as Dune part 2 being delayed there would be no competition. Sexism won't work because Captain Marvel did very well.

They're gonna milk that actor's strike for all they can, and when that dries up, there's always the old chestnut of racist, sexist, toxic masculinity to fall back on. Anything, just so long as they don't have to take a long hard look in the mirror.

The Captain Marvel sequel should have had just one Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers. Carol Danvers' memory was taken from her. A subplot should be Carol Danvers trying to remember her past. Maria could tell her that she had a boyfriend. Carol would then meet him, and the romance is rekindled. Interpersonal relationships should be a part of MCU movies especially romantic love, the most pleasurable emotion humans can feel. Fighting should revolve around these interpersonal relationship. The MCU has lost sight of this. That is the reason they are not doing as well as previously. It began with Spiderman: No Way Home. The movie did very well giving the MCU the illusion it was on the right path. Note three Spider-Mans and three Marvels but Spider-Man: No Way Home might have done well because people wanted to see Tom Holland and Zendaya. However, the MCU foolishly broke up Peter and MJ despite them being part of the comic book. In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Dr. Strange should have made the world forget Peter was Spider-Man not the existence of Peter Parker. The romance between Peter and MJ would have continued in following movies. A following movie could touch on MJ's background. The MCU should want the audience to feel the pleasure of romantic love through Peter and MJ.

Paid, perhaps. Professional? That blog post has a lot of issues. I saw repeated paragraphs, typos, and the content lacks analysis of the subject, and ends without a conclusion.

I don't disagree with the premise. I just think it's poorly written.

yeah some women don't like romantic comedies, just a small percentage. And barbie had romance with Ken but it was also a funny movie with songs, women love that too. Musicals. Yeah disney could keep making movies for men and women but not if they keep forcing stuff into them, like should they force manly men and action into their disney princess movies? No I'd expect women to not like that.

super hero movies are from comics and those were often young teenage boys but they become men and they still like the genre. It's also related to the whole action movie thing. Women never liked those. Saying elsa was popular due to her powers is wrong. Women love disney princess animated movies. It's ok, women and men are different, as are boys and girl children. They shouldn't try to force demographics.

The very fact that that nobody is a "professional, paid writer" makes it all the more mortifying that they cannot spell at a grade school level. This is what you get for lowering the bar of acceptability for the sake of the "diversity" agenda -- i.e., anti-intellectual plebes being apologisists for idiocy. Let's see how much you wish there were more "spelling Nazis" after they diversity hire pilots who crash into edifices, and electrical engineers who bring down your power grids...
