Your post was very much about your view, which seemed to be essentially the same as theirs.

If you see nothing wrong with the approach of banning anyone who doesn't share your view, well, I guess we just don't share fundamental values at all.

Do you know if they banned someone who disagreed? I didn't know that sub existed until today. They can have their opions. Reddit lets mods voice their opinions. Larger subs should follow strict rules, but this smaller sub is unimportant.

When you post as a mod, using a mod account, you are communicating the official position of the subreddit. They are very clearly saying that the official position of the subreddit is that all people who think a border crisis exists are racists, and they ban racists.

You're barking up the wrong tree.

That specific sub makes fun of "white people twitter". Read the posts and comments. The mods and the community there are of the same mindset. There's also no evidence that they've banned anyone who merely disagreed. Rules are listed here: https://www.reddit.com/r/WhitePeopleTwitter

There are PLENTY of other subs you can enjoy if you don't like the mods' and users' opinions in that specific sub. They often - APPROPRIATELY - make fun of assholes. It's part of the reason for the sub. You can say you don't agree. Try it. Twitter is run by a far right asshole. Any sub about Twitter should HONESTLY address the fascist fuckery at Twitter.

There are not. That was true eight years ago, but today, every sub enforces a specific ideology, and the site admins remove moderators who won't enforce that ideology, and ban subs that don't conform to it.

I was on Reddit long enough to see their slide from "open discourse" to "everyone needs to believe the exact same thing or you're banned."

Twitter is run by a far right asshole.

Musk is actually pretty centrist. He believes in free speech, and these days, that alone is enough to get you labeled a "far right asshole." Think about that.

I know, and that makes me sad. You seem to really believe that social media companies should tightly control which opinions people are and aren't allowed to express.

I suspect you're just young and you've never been on the other side of it. Democrats learned to love free expression during the Reagan and Bush years. Those who came of age during the Obama years, regrettably, learned to detest it.

Dude, if you want to go to bed, you can just go to bed. I'm not going to stay up all night waiting for your response.

A large part of the reason I don't vote is that I want to be able to objectively call balls and strikes. I don't want a political party to think for me. I want to look at every assertion critically and think: is that fair, or is that partisan bullshit.

So, yeah, you see me calling out right-wing partisan bullshit all the time, and, yeah, I'm sure you're happy about that.

But I also don't hesitate to call out left-wing partisan bullshit, like "Elon Musk is an agent of the far right" or "Not voting means voting for a particular candidate" or "The Paradox of Tolerance means that allowing free speech is tantamount to racism."

Nah Twitter is still full of overly sensitive snow flakes who don't like their opinions or views challenged and you will get suspended or banned for the dumbest shit still. Some of them come here for the hopes of being able to have an open and honest discussion about the more controversial topics without fear of being banned for not having the same opinion as the vast majority of the users. Twitter always has been and always will be a carefully cultivated mindset. I honestly don't know what's worse, Twitter or Reddit.

We're discussing a Reddit sub that makes fun of right-wing Twitter posts. Hematomato is mad at the satire sub's mods for being partisan. But it's a partisan sub, and we've seen no evidence of them banning users who disagree in a civil manner. There are plenty of right-wing subs on Saidit that have banned users who diagreed.

        [–]SaltyTexan 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Well I can tell you without a shadow of doubt that I have never been banned in a right wing sub for having a different opinion, but I have been banned more times than I can count in a left wing sub for having a different opinion. I have been called names more by the left than I ever have by the right. Which is pretty ironic if you think about it, because they left always calls the right racists and mean, when in fact I have experience way more racism by the left than I ever had by the right. They are doing exactly what they are telling everyone the right is doing, and in my experience the right isn't doing any of that.

        [–]Bitch-Im-a-cow 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I've been banned several times from Saidit by right wing users. I've not been banned at Reddit for anything. I seriously doubt you've had a different opinion from others in a right wing sub. All Reddit subs are 'ban happy'.

        [–]SaltyTexan 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I'm a middle of the road kind of person. I think the far left are morons and I think the far right are morons. Trust me when I say that I have different takes on most of them from both sides. Like I said, I have gotten WAY more hate from left wingers than I ever have from the right ones. Which I find kind of ironic considering the left are the ones who keep saying they hate the right because of how racists they are, yet as I have said I have personally experienced more racism from the left than the right. I'm a black female who is also a gay, so for someone like ME to say that I have experienced more racism from the left, then that should raise some eyebrows.

And furthermore, who are you to tell me what my personal experiences have been? Let me guess, you are a white left winger. And if I'm wrong get me some damn ketchup and I'll eat this post.

try blazing across the border into saudi and see how that works for you.

Probably not well, but I don't see what that has to do with anything.
