Reddit thinks the border crisis is fake

I've seen videos of the people at the border, and I've seen the reporting numbers, but I assume, with how wide the border is... If we're just talking about Mexico and the US?... You could roll a car along it on any given day of the week and not spot a person trying to cross. In fact, unless I'm mistaken, part of the idea of illegally crossing a border is trying not to be seen at all.

What exactly was the convoy and what happened? This is all a new one to me.

Oh, and, if it needs to be said and isn't obvious to everyone - Moderation teams have no right to decide what a fact is an refuse to allow conversation that disputes it.

Except there are people who are flying into Mexico from other countries and crossing the border. It's not just Mexico's citizens.

I was pointing out that you didn't think there was a huge influx of people coming over, so I was just letting you know that it is way more than just Mexican citizens coming through the border down south. Here is a link to something that should change your mind, this is happening in Texas, and the President sent Federal agents down here to LET them through our razer wire fences.

This is the number of people we have detained, can you imagine how many actually make it through. I want to also point out the that ones that do slip by are damaging people's homes and properties and causing loss of farm animals and crops due to their trespassing. They are cutting farmers fences and letting livestock out and ruining crops, it needs to stop.

That's not what I said. I don't think you understood my post. I'll try and clarify:

I've seen that there are a lot of people coming across the American border. I've seen it confirmed by even the sources that suggest there isn't a border crisis in America that they are getting too many immigrants across the border to take care of.

However, due to the size of the border between Mexico and the US, which is, I assume, the border we are talking about, a person could drive up and down that border all day and not see a person cross - This is because you would have to drive up and down over 3,100 kms of border, giving immigrants over 3,100 kms of territory in which to cross. You would be very lucky to be in the exact place at the exact time, with over 3,000 kms of ground to look over, to see any one person crossing. While you're covering 1km of territory, there's 3,099 other kms worth of terrain out there, and if you only had 1 person crossing every day per km, that would still be 3,100 people per day that could easily stroll past without anyone who was traveling up and down the border having any hope of spotting them.

Ergo - With all that territory to cross, why would a convoy of people arrive at the border and expect to see illegal immigrants flooding over in waves? They have their choice of up to 3,100 kilometers worth of border to cross at any given time. You would need a 3,100km long convoy in order to spot them all.

Does that help clear up what I was saying?

But there are only certain places that are safe to cross, so even though it's a wide area, most if it is not possible to cross.

I'm saying that not every place along the border is crossable as you had suggested in your prior post.

No, you've changed what you think I was saying about 4 times now, and now you're attempting to play sophism by straw manning down to tiny, insignificant details that aren't relevant to the overall point so that it appears you were correct. It's clear you didn't understand what I was saying. It's also clear that when I now ask you: "So, how much of the border would you say is crossable in that 3,100 km odd range" that you won't be able to tell me, and when I follow up with: "So was there enough members of the convoy to cover all those areas we believe could be crossed?" you won't know, and when I ask: "So when they arrived, did they check all the entry points?" we won't have an answer and that you're incapable to simply saying: "Oh, I misunderstood your point. Sorry."

I'm not sure why you're being like this. My point was simple: I doubt the convoy would have arrived to say huge lines of people waiting to get in. There isn't a single point where migrants all agree to sneak across the border, and given the range of the border, a very large number could cross ever day without being seen despite a convoy trying to cover it. I assume you're either simply feeling ashamed of misunderstanding the original post and now need to find something to be "Right" about, are a desperate contrarian, or have just been on the internet so long that you think you need to disagree with everyone about the border no matter what they say because they are all idiots in favour of open borders... Or you take your username very seriously. No matter the case, this isn't a productive discussion.

I AM correct. You're the one that wants to focus on "Well how many border crossing areas are crossable in that range." It doesn't matter how many areas are crossable, the entire point I was and STILL am making is that ANY crossing at all isn't desired due to the damage and strain they are causing on the locals where they ARE crossing. Why can't you just admit there is a problem with illegals crossing over the border. Hey because if you don't think it's a problem we can bus them up and send to them to your house.
