Mass psychosis in action. It's fascinating in a way, I mean this is like what happened in the Salem witch trials or the satanic scare of the 80s. They're feeding off each other's ridiculous beliefs built on a distorted reality.

I wonder if it was deliberate, a psyop campaign against the US. Other nations love fucking with us online. What a fantastic way to weaken and distract a country from more important issues.

Shocks me to think that some people still believe the satanic scare was some hoax.

Do you not remember that time? Everything was suddenly satanic. D&D, Rock n Roll, KISS... Boy scout meetings. That shit was on the nightly news and on Donahue. Collectively people got spooked and suddenly saw evil satanists behind everything.

It is indelibly an example of mass hysteria. There really were kids abused in some of the cases though and I believe some cults were involved.

of course, i was just saying none of the hysteria was based in reality. my folks gave me a bob larson book about him touring with slayer. i had no interest whatsoever in metal until i read that book. if anyone doesnt know bob larson, he was HUGE in that era. still is, and more hilarious than ever.
