This is all mostly organized by an absolutely insane man in a dress nicknamed Bardfinn (or Penny). Searching his name on kiwifarms brings up a lot of evidence of what he's been doing, collected by an user called Nykysnottrans (who sometimes derisively refers to Bardfinn as Goth Dad). I don't like kiwifarms and don't care about the details of Bardfinn's personal life, but the documentation of how he's been stalking and targeting reddit users for months is interesting.

Be a bit sceptical though, there's claims Bardfinn has cp which I personally don't believe, as I think the only evidence of that was an easily faked discord screenshot. Unlike screenshots of Bardfinn's reddit posts, which can be verified to exist, and Nykysnottrans had to walk back on his claims that Peter Pawlowski was involved with reddit's masstagger.

I'm calling bullshit on Bardfinn's claims of terfs wanting to "take care of that TIM", I never saw anyone in GC talking about him, if they had been aware of what Bardfinn was up to they wouldn't have been taken aback by the ban. Magdalen Berns also never said anything against jews, she linked a news article about Soros because he was a billionaire.

Nykysnottrans on Bardfinn:

Bardfinn imagines himself some kind of Nazi hunter on the website and that fantasy of grandeur gives his miserable life direction, purpose and meaning. He has something to get up for in the morning, he's going to track down and catch the Nazis on Reddit, and since he's a delusional paranoid and sees Nazis and Nazi conspiracies everywhere, there's always something for him to do and to keep his feverish broken crazy brain preoccupied with. It's the same reason people in East Germany became inoffizielle mitarbeiter and collaborated with the Stasi, it made them feel imporant to spy on their neighbors and narc them to the state security service.

Surveillance is a very powerful drug and Bardfinn is an addict because he has the full blessings of Reddit to cyberstalk, profile and blacklist their unassuming users going about their business, unaware that Bardfinn is doing all this behind their back, until one day Bardfinn suddenly corners them in a angry reply comment with: "I see you have been posting a lot in /r/WhateverDude and /r/SFWdude, you are one of dem Nazis aren't you, I been watchin'ya boy." Bardfinn wants to infect everyone on Reddit with his own PTSD hypervigilance, cornering hapless users to let them know he's been cyberstalking them to intimidate them with the knowledge they're being watched is how he does it.

It would be wonderful if Bardfinn was now used as a test-case for Reddit's anti harassment rules, because if there is one massive cyberstalker on the site following users around and letting them know they are being followed for the purpose of driving them off the site (the rules appear to specifically ban that) it's obviously Bardfinn and his bunch.

But of course, he has never ever made this supposed "evidence" public, and has never been asked or made to either. We just have to take him at his word that he's telling the truth about the alt-right manipulating /r/GenderCritical and laughing about how easy it is - because as a lifelong psychiatric patient by his own public admission, he's obviously so reliable. Because if he did, if Bardfinn was forced to make his supposed "research" public that led to all these bans, Reddit would have to answer for the fact that they're allowing their users to be cyberstalked and profiled behind their backs by this guy - which is in violation of many laws, including EU laws.

I would not be at all surprised if it turns out (and I don't have any proof for this, it's just the worst case scenario I can come up with) that Reddit were paying Bardfinn under the table to cyberstalk and data-mine their users for them in order to make it seem like they were "doing something about the Nazis on the site" and that "self-policing on the part of our community of mods is really working".

There is no self-policing here, there's only a feverish, controlfreak, obsessive, paranoid mod with a horrible reputation amongst the user base getting increasingly more powerhungry, openly hostile, intimidating and downright condescending towards random hapless users and the mods of all the subs he hates. Anyone who honestly believes that /r/detrans are white power neonazis collaborating with fascists belongs in a mental hospital away from all computers strapped to a bed vomitting on themselves from the high dose tranquilizers, not on Reddit moderating anything.

As to why Reddit is tolerating him, that's what every Reddit user and moderator who has encountered this persistent pest and menace has been asking themselves: How is this vermin allowed to wreck havoc on Reddit so openly and for so long? Answer: very likely because he claims to know Steve Huffman aka spez (Reddit's CEO) personally. It's most likely through pure nepotism that he's able to get away with all this.
