I am a doctor and even I am avoiding getting another Pap smear because my previous experience at the OB/gyn office was traumatic. I was on birth control for hormonal acne and they assumed birth control meant I was getting penetrated on the regular. They used a very large speculum and ignored my pain. I am the only lesbian in my department and whenever I try to bring the very few articles about lesbians experience in healthcare up I am spoken over by the heterosexual ~nonbinary~ person in my department about trans issues. Lesbian and bisexual women are extremely under researched so I find this very frustrating.

I'm so sorry you had that horrible Pap smear experience! I've had similar experiences on my unit in regards to LGB issues. There are a few gays on my unit but we are usually talked over by "allies".
