The only shares that actually contributes to productivity are ones still owned by the founder or CEO. This is because said shares can actually be used to raise capital.
Reasons like this is exactly why nations are incentivized to help small companies and screw over large ones. Shares are like Gasoline - once you list it and sell some shares, they ain't exactly coming back. Especially since it's illegal for CEOs to go against Shareholder interests.
China had the right idea. Pump money into small companies and fuck over big ones. Keep the money-supply flowing.
