The thing I've always told friends who try to buy into the whole non-binary thing is that these people are asking the right question but coming up with the exact wrong answer.

Yes you should question traditional gender stereotypes and not feel less than a man if you don't look like a lumberjack etc... They take the opposite route and say ok I'm not an idealized male form therefore I am not a male.

We used to call this sexism when society judged women by their appearance so instead of moving past that and judging people on their actions and qualifications, society has decided to bring men in too and just judge everyone. The only important thing is how you look.

This is what drives me the most crazy about enby's. You cannot - cannot - be an "enby" without fully subsuming yourself to gender stereotypes. You just can't. Their entire worldview and foundation of identity is based on these stereotypes. Despite the LGB community and GNC people more broadly fighting for literally a century to be seen as more than just presentation, in the span of 5 years they've turned around and subsumed sex and sexual orientation to said presentation. It's laughably absurd but yet it is the progressive Truth du jour right now.
