Got to get the canon to the children while they're young and lack critical thinking and the ability to properly research things themselves. It's how religions have always indoctrinated children.

So you don't have to strain your eyes:

Brief History on Pride

The first pride parades started in 1970, but Rivera and other transgender people were discriminated against and discouraged from participation.

WE OWE PRIDE TO BLACK AND TRANSGENDER WOMEN WHO THREW BRICKS AT COPS.

I have no idea if Rivera was discouraged from participating in Pride but it seems unlikely and Rivera was known for lying. The second part is completely false, though.

Edit: Looked into it and it's even more rewriting of history. This part is a little hazy and not from particularly reliable sources, but what I could find seems to say that a lot of feminists at the time found drag misogynistic and since there was a big crossover between feminists and lesbians, drag queens were asked to march at the end of the Christopher Street Liberation Day march. Rivera and Johnson's group, Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries aka S.T.A.R. put themselves at the front of the march in protest.

Neither Pride nor the Stonewall riots are important enough to me that I would lie to invent heroes out of any of the people who were there. There were other milestones, both before and after, but why talk about those?

It's bad enough they do that shit over in the US, but then they try to do it in other countries too. Countries that had legalized homosexuality hundreds of years before Stonewall even happened.

It's all about the narrative. Stonewall riot has to be the defining moment of gay rights for their belief system. And not just the defining moment for US gay rights, but for gay rights all over the world.

It's dumb and offensive and erases the history of the many gay men and lesbians who fought for rights in every country. It's just plain homophobic. It's also colonialism that these types always rage about.

And not just the defining moment for US gay rights, but for gay rights all over the world.

That's what really bothers me. Neoliberals in other western countries thunk that America is bad and that Americans are morons, but then they import the worst aspects of American culture into their countries, especially the lies. This proves that we are part of some broad American empire, and that LGBTQ activists are the missionaries of said empire.

Knowing people who spread that shit here pisses me off. Stonewall has exactly nothing to do with gay rights here. American gay rights movement did nothing here.

But yeah, those same people will turn around and whine about American shit influencing things(mostly blaming Trump for our right wing existing, which isn't even true) here while at the same time being the people who are actually bringing in American influence.

These useful idiots don't see the irony at all. In Europe, far right parties have been around for decades. Their popularity skyrocketed in 2015 qnd 2016 because of the European migrant crisis causes by US, French and UK intervention in the Middle East and North Africa. Most right wing people in Europe consider Trump liberal, and even resent him.

Americanised Europeans consume Hollywood and so they have this black and white good versus evil mentality, and think that the west is good.

This is part of what the law in Flordia is seeking to prevent.

Retconning aside, it's extremely disturbing to me that this lesson normalizes violence against the police as an intrinsic value, as though an oppressed minority can only achieve rights through violence.

I'd love to walk into that classroom, stare that teacher straight in the eye and say, "You're wrong, and this is what really happened." It's shameful that these lies continue to be spread.
