It makes sense. When you've been abused by awful parents, you'll try to distance yourself from everything to do with them, including the identity associated with them. Changing (nick)names, moving long distances, studying something odd, finding friend groups in niches you were never a part of before, all of these things can be done to try and cope with trauma. Hormone therapy and genital mutilation is just a cousin to the drugs and tattoos that have been shocking parents for generations. But this time, society doesn't see the problem.

That's what really gets me the most. People threw their arms up in ourtage still just 15 years ago when it came to drugs & tattoos being easily obtainable by kids. Now no one says anything about parents literally beating their kids into HRT & SRS. How nobody is saying anything about this or speaking out is just astounding.

What deranged person makes an assumption about a kid's sexuality at the age of 4?

Someone who knows that little boys who are extremely feminine from a very early age are statistically more-likely-than-not to be gay men in adulthood. This is a finding that's very consistently verified by studies — although I suspect Kai's parents knew this from not from studies, but from anecdotal evidence.

Maybe. Still even if it's more statistically likely (by how much?) speaking from my own experience as a bisexual guy (which fair not gay) I didn't really have any female oriented inclinations or hobbies until I hit puberty. Almost all my interests before were very masculine. You have plenty of tomboyish girls for instance that end up straight or bi woman that settled down with guys I don't if there is a difference there?
