In reality, the world is more dangerous for gay men than it is for trans people. And it's dangerous for trans people only because they are sometimes mistaken for gay men.

I'll be honest, earlier in my life I made a point to adopt gender conforming behaviors because I knew doing so would be physically and professionally safer. Since I don't believe in "gender" -- these are merely behaviors, they have nothing to do with an "authentic" self -- I didn't lose any sense of self by doing this. My "true self" transcends superficial behaviors. That's something that trans ideology can't comprehend.

I hope this isn't inappropriate, but I've heard more trans people call themselves the t slur than any other group of people.

This erasure is mind-boggling. At this point, I've taken "LGBTQ++ safe space" to mean "space where people's pronouns are asked", not necessarily a space where a gay man can walk in with his partner or where a lesbian won't be harassed by straight men. That is why LGB needs to drop the T.

I actually used to know lots of transwomen who said they didn't mind the t-slur because it acknowledged they were trans.

These people have serious self-loathing issues.

I think it's just narcissism. If they manage to pass they suddenly lose the ability to forcibly make everyone else uncomfortable and maintain 100% of the attention in the room.

Because it means this person has successfully tricked the other people into believing that this woman is a man. Facing bigotry for a group they are not a part of is validating because it means the bigots think the person is a part of that social group. Imagine a line cook making a cake and being called a bad professional baker. They aren't a baker, but for someone to think that they are would tell the line cook that they aren't that bad at making cakes considering they aren't actually a professional baker
