Yeah, I think straight people think LGB are now living in this perfect bubble of love an acceptance, and they don't realize that the bubble is actually rotting from the inside. There is this false narrative pushed by the media through 'inclusiveness' especially through Netflix shows and YA novels that LGB live perfect happy normal lives now. And I think partially it's due to the fact that people are tired of seeing 'coming out' stories and homophobia stories. People have been asking for and demanding stories where gay people can just exist and be normal characters who happen to be happy and gay and accepted without the angst (I mean I wanted this too!) but we didn't realize it would come at the cost of people thinking everything is okay now. Meanwhile young LGB don't feel safe at all, it seems like...

I'll say I do think young lesbians have it worse, because in my time, the problem was straightforward: homophobes are being homophobic to us. Simple. But today's lesbians can't say that because they will be told "Silly lesbian, the homophobes were defeated long ago! You are free now!" and if you try to complain about the trans-invaders, suddenly now you are the transphobe who needs to be defeated. It's really frustrating to be in a situation where you can't explain what the problem is because it's too weird and complicated and incredible to explain without looking like there is something wrong with you.

I felt like I was the only one to feel this way

Just a quick reply to say you're definitely not the only one. I'm a little older than you, but I 100% relate to your experiences with leftist homophobia, as well as traditional homophobia. The situation now will not last forever. I know from messaging with others in this group that a lot of us relate and are dealing with similar struggles to yours. Feel free to pm me if you need to talk.
