This isn't surprising at all; hardcore religious communities have always pushed "transing the gay away" as a way of "curing" homosexuality. Homosexuality is, to these religions, viewed as abhorrent, but transgenderism is okay because it's basically shaming gay people into feeling diseased and that it's a problem to be fixed.

They get to continue espousing homophobia under the guise of being helpful. Religion is awful.

There's a good case to be made that Pat Robertson's views on homosexuality aren't actually biblical,* and his views on transgender issues certainly aren't. The fault lies with Robertson himself, rather than the religion he claims allegiance to.

I cannot believe that devout Christians would support such extreme alterations of the human body. Wouldn't that violate Genesis 1:27 somehow?
