I have never posted on lgbdropthet or gendercritical or any of these places. But my concern has been mounting. I myself fell victim to a behavior contagion when I was 11-23 (with occasional relapses). I was one of those girls who cut themselves, after seeing it in media. Many people tried cutting themselves and did not find it as a useful coping skill. But many people did. It was discovered later that people with Borderline Personality Disorder were often the ones that found the coping skill effective. I see so much correlation between my experience and the whole transgender boom. I am covered in scars that I have to live with forever, these women detransitioning will have their own type of scars that they, too, must now live with. It makes my heart ache.

Companies never tried to make money off of me cutting myself, though. It is sickening to think about. And I was so afraid to put this ad on my main Imgur that I made a throwaway. I feel like that says something...

I wonder if there's any data on tumblr banning the pro-ana, pro-mia, and other self-harm blogs (2012 or 2013 can't remember) and then the subsequent rise in everyone getting on the trans train. Not that that stuff's gone away, it's just harder to find now.
