This is neither new nor uncommon, they have been doing this for years. Fujoshi got a negative reputation so a lot of them started "identifying as men" and then being all like "Fujoshi?! NoooOOO I hate them! I'm a real gay man, fujoshi can die!"

There's a girl in my hobby discord who's like this. It's sad because she seems reasonable most of the time but then occassionally she'll start ranting about how she is a "smol gay MLM" and that she hates fujoshi because they fetishize her gay transboy uwu experience. And yet she gets super close to self awareness sometimes like expressing she believes MTFs have male privilege. But then she says things like believing she is a real gay man and different to fujoshi with 100% sincerity. It's so weird.

I hate the (made-up?) word "smol" and I have no idea how it got started. I remember when I first met people who talked like that out loud and was so confused..

That is really weird. It's a lot of cognitive dissonance. Sounds like for those people, the trans identification is a way of denying their shame over their fetish-- not simply a part of the fetish.

Didn't that "smol" bullshit start with talking about animals in baby speak? Like "what a heckin pupper, such a good doggo, smol precious baby uwu" and then it just contaminated everything else

Ok, maybe I'm just cynical but I hate it in animal speak / baby speak too, lol. I think the "uwu"s might have come from the furry community, though.
