This question would be better suited for the folks over at detrans.

Most cases of dysphoria could probably easily be solved by simply consulting a therapist about your issues with gender identity.

The only reason surgery and hormones are the promoted treatments for dysphoria is because medical corporations can keep people hooked on hormones and because the surgery is incredibly expensive.

Yes actually, and I have a different answer for you beyond therapy and self-help! Check this out:

This doctor was able to pinpoint hormonal imbalances in some FTM girls, that when corrected, caused the girls to desist and resume their normal lives!

Depends in a few factors. For a very few, tansition does help, but it's not a cure all for all of your problems. The problem recently has been that it's being touted as a cure-all.

There are people who desist through therapy after they explored the root cause of their dysphoria. There's cases of people finally coming to terms with the sexual abuse they've experienced as children and the dysphoria going away from that.

It depends on the individual.

Majority of cases previously were cured either on their own, or with help of therapist, or with normal HRT (progesterones and sometimes estrogenes for females, testosterone for males).
