God, this is so bad. I need people to understand that sometimes there are groups and places where they just don't belong and never will. And this is the same for EVERYBODY. I can't help but feel somewhat responsible for this situation where straight girls are transitioning to be gay men, because I've written a lot of fanfiction in my life, but always with the mindset that this is not real; this is from women TO women; this is just for FUN. Meanwhile people like this must've been in the same culture, reading stuff with a completely different mindset. Fuck.

Oof, that sucks; I'm so sorry to hear you can't enjoy something you used to like. I've not even thought about MTFs lurking in fandoms, since during my 10+ years in them, I've seen only one biological male actively taking part. But I'm not into anime, which seems to be their brand of fandom. Fandoms used to be pretty exclusively female spaces, but now I'm seeing this massive emergence of FTMs and can't help but wonder if I've played a part in presenting gay relationships in such a way that these people feel lured into it. Into total fiction that was never meant to reflect reality. It's pretty messed up that I even have to think about this.
