Yes - good points - especially becase he starts with Frances Saunders's Cultural Cold War, which is exceptional, and dense with useful information. It takes a while to absorb. Many know her work also because of her earlier contributions to the New Statesman. In her book, the problem is Neoliberalism, rather than a 'fake left', and though she addresses the CIA in several publications, she is generally assessing approaches by political appointees of the entire US Intelligence Community, dating back to WWII, though developing especially in the 60s-70s. Ben obviously loved the book, and extrapolated quite a bit from it for his own arguments about the 'fake left', Marxism, Kantian idealism &c. Much of this is nonetheless under the general umbrella of Neoliberalism and its discontents. I suspect that anyone under the age of 40 is sick of Neoliberalism, for good reason. The political manipulation of the news media is one aspect of it. There are important ways to address Neoliberal and Neofascist movements, but I won't mention them here.

She's been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. What a good fit with CIA!
