True, after the "opioid crisis" which was a huge money grabbing scam, doctors can't prescribe opiates without fear of losing their DEA number, medical license, sued, or even being tossed in jail. So there's been a push to find alternatives for pain that don't involve opioids.

CBD was one of them. And the CBD market begat the Delta 8 market, and the delta 8 market has made it hard to tell illegal pot from legal delta 8, you need a lab test, so marijuana is almost defacto legal even in illegal states.

Although CBD doesn't work for pain unfortunately. I gave it a pretty exhaustive try several years ago.
