People start being goths because they are outcasts, not the other way round

False.

Goth is an aesthetic and a choice, not a pejorative many may use to name-call.

Being another insulting name is not by choice. And many of these poor folks try other genres on, and often fail.

Whether you think they are both or not is up to you.
