It doesn't have to be one person going it alone. It doesn't have to be one person's choice. It doesn't have to be a singular judge, jury, and executioner.

It doesn't have to be, but it's the way most things work. Problems arise when there's a mismatch between the one person and the community. Ideally, the system would result in a closer match in values between members and operators, but the choices are limited.

Actually, most interactions are voluntary, not by orders from above by some great decider. And even hierarchies have branches (along with checks and balances) not a one dimensional ladder with only up and down.

Yes, the choices currently are limited. This is changing. Evolving.

You start another site and I'll help how I can, if only to see if it's viable in the long term. I'm sure M7 would give you pointers. Surely, there are others on here who can provide technical support. I recently met a guy who is part of a small, worldwide team that successfully put together and marketed a video game on multiple platforms. He lives a modest life and I would have no idea other than he mentioned something in conversation and I asked him for more details.
