Because women don’t deserve shelter if it hurts men’s feelings. Not being allowed in this one shelter hurt their feelings, so it’s justified as far as they are concerned. Punishing the shelter is tit for tat.

I wonder if they don’t want to set a precedent. As in, if this place exists then that means it’s okay for other female only places to exist. It’s getting to a point where it’s beyond just being frustrating and ridiculous, shit is scary.

It’s terrifying. The mask is slipping and the misogyny of the is showing, but everyone invested themselves too much when the human decency/be nice/accept everyone arguments were at the forefront. They’ve got to either lose face and endure the same shit they lumped on women, or keep quiet and be safe from the mental cases with dead rats and unlimited time online. The hatred of women is visible af in taking away a fundraiser for a program that protects women and the people who have backed tra up enough for this sort of thing to be possible are choosing to stay quiet and safe. Women are never a worthy cause to those who support it.

It blows my mind that people who say they identify as or that they are women themselves can do this to women, vulnerable women seeking safety, so easily. It makes my chest hurt when I think about it. It’s so scary to see that they have no qualms doing this.

It’s easy because they haven’t been that vulnerable and cannot imagine it or empathise with women. They seem to think it’s a genuinely deserved reaction to having their feelings hurt, because having their feelings hurt is the worst thing they have ever experienced. Being told no by women is such an affront that they don’t deserve shelter from rapists as far as they’re concerned. Misogyny everywhere

"Transphobes" are public enemy #1 now that hordes of white men are calling themselves trans women. If they can't colonize it, they destroy it.

This made me furious and peaked me allover. It’s vile.

“Seriously, why do this?”

Because they hate women

“Who does doing that help?”

Their feelings, which seems to be all they care about

“Its just being petty.”

It’s more than petty. It’s pure hatred, it’s disregarding the needs of others, it’s fucking evil.

“many women who've been abused/raped by men don't want to be housed with males.”

They know, they don’t give a fuck.

You can contribute directly. I did, and Paypal didn't threaten to cancel me.

I am surprised no one from QT side commented here or voiced their concerns about this issue.

How trans activists attacked and terrorized vulnureable and hurt women in VRR two years ago was a final nail in my trans peaking. And they are on this again.

I'm not really pro-QT but I'm a transsexual, and it's heartbreaking and so defeating to see this happen. I get there's a huge "pro trans rights, who cares about women" social more that society's mentality is stuck in, but I'm genuinely flabbergasted that GoFundMe would do this. It's really upsetting and beyond frustrating in my opinion.

GoFundMe makes a lot of money off transition. People are constantly crowdfunding for surgeries there. So they sure don't want to piss off trans activists. I'm sure the admins at Reddit were also bombarding GoFundMe with requests to take it down.

Even if they think the shelter is transphobic, there are better ways to go about it than removing a resource that could've helped a lot of women. It seems incredibly callous to me to just throw all those women under the bus for what amounts to virtue signaling.

Are there other rape shelters in Vancouver for women?

Sort of, this is the only one that is single sex. Many female DV victims don't want to be housed with males, regardless of how they identify. Many 'progressive' shelters are mixed sex, sorting people by gender identity instead of sex, which leads to mixed sex rooms and very uncomfortable women.

Of course transwomen who are DV victims need a shelter, but they do not need to be housed with biological women because (1) their needs as groups are often different and (2) many women are uncomfortable being housed with stranger males, which is a pretty deep-rooted fear for us.
