Preach. Food quality is an issue, but if you're trying to lose weight your #1 focus should be on calories. The worst part is, the more people have focused on the simple message of CALORIES IN CALORIES OUT, the more every "expert" on the internet has decided that's somehow not true. As if basic physics don't apply to human bodies as if by magic. Made all the worse by the fact that your brain lies to you, and the more morbidly obese people are the more their brain lies to them about their food portions.
But I've been saying what this man says for years. Best exercise? The one you'll actually do. Best diet? The one you'll actually do.
Though I will point out, the "biggest loser" so-called "study" is methodologically fucked up and came up with bogus numbers because of it. When adjusted by other - y'know real - scientists their BMR was normal for their size. Your BMR declines with age and weight, obviously. There is no such thing as "metabolic damage" from weight loss. This is part two of why everything is fucked up. Lies. Many, many lies, ultimately trying to disincentivize people from actually working to achieve goals and eat less. Which is his overall message, but I find it very sad he repeats that lie of a "study".
