The EU is its own worst enemy. Instead of thinking about whether there is some way to make EU membership more attractive to newcomers in the years after Brexit, the EU have gone in completely the opposite direction.

EU has to solve their own internal issues regarding emerging dictatorships. After that they will surely have tools to prevent such situations and will accept more new countries.
