Well, he was a Negro "kid", and this is the U. S. where it took place... It is better to be safe than to be sorry; and I, for one, would much rather the cop look like a douche, than the kid turn out to be mugger (or worse). I've seen way too much of the latter, and the mild odium for the cop is nothing compared to the feelings elicited by the violence that can ensue in such situations.

I am afraid that, over the past decade -- the last five years, especially -- the trust in the Negro as a "fellow man" who espouses the same sensibilities as every non-Negro does, has been called into serious question. The hyper-sensitivity of U. S. law enforcement to the Negro presence, is just one of the unfortunate offshoots of this racial reckoning that has, and is still taking place. Look at France as a du jour example: There will be no "forgetting" what is taking place there now (the effective razing of a nation by its ingrate, squatting, invading hordes); just as there can be no forgetting the "Floyd riots" et al., etc., ad infinitum... At least, not from the adult generations who lived through said tumultuous episodes in history.
