      kids in old days were not allowed to be anywhere not in the classroom during class periods or unsupervised.

      Call the parents and get them involved before you do the suspension maybe? Suspending half the school of kids that don't even want to be there in the first place is going to accomplish nothing except make it utterly apparent to everyone that the school has a massive discipline problem.

      Really their single moms (none have fathers) won't care about the suspensions anyway but what is happening is the kids come to school and hang out in the bathrooms and areas of the school, sabotaging stuff and bullying kids that try to go to class. They shouldn't be in school and they have no hope if their moms don't care anyway. Discipline from the school won't work unless you bring back whipping.
