Reading the article, if we take it as truth, this represents the financialization of farmland, just as so many other sectors of the economy have been financialized. The difference here is that when these people - having entered the field with zero knowledge of what to do to make this "asset" actually do what it is capable of doing - fuck this up, as they inevitably will, we have starvation. The dollar collapse cannot come soon enough to stop this rot of the human capacity for self-preservation.
