The state of Reddit is ridiculous these days. I've met a few people that like to complain the site is somehow right-leaning but that's patently false. Questioning anything about gender identity or any other leftist buzzword gets you a wrecking.
I mentioned in my first post to that subreddit that I used the word "retard" in-character during a game set in the 80's when the word would have been more acceptable and used the above Frankenstein term to criticize some players that intentionally allowed my character to get killed because I didn't agree that "communism is better than capitalism" and because i played my character like a funny asshole instead of a "slutty hoe asshole". Their words, not mine. They naturally laughed about it the entire time.
Anyone else sick of the complete lack of self-awareness? Here's the post I put on Reddit
"Long story short, a friend of mine whose campaigns I've been playing in on and off for about 2 years started a new DND and Don't Rest Your Head Hybrid game set in the 80's. It sounded cool, so I rolled up a surgeon named Doctor Bob B. Boogaloo
As the name might suggest, nobody in the game was taking it hugely seriously. I decided to do a shared background with another player who I had previously played with. He rolled up a warlock with a classic evil mentor backstory involving lots of demons. Cheesy but it was fun and we played off one another well. Sort of like a hilariously shitty Back to the Future dynamic where his hyperactive character would say everything was because of demons and I'd tell him to "calm down, Morty." Great fun, we both enjoyed it.
Game had a big party. 8 people to begin with. down to five in session 2, where most of the story takes place.
So it was really only myself and three other players that are the big people in the story. The backstory buddy who was playing a warlock pickpocket (let's call him Steve), a woman playing a male thug named Oleander, (call her Doyle) and a dude playing a woman whose class I forget (Call her Jade) Doyle and Jade teach at the same university IRL and seem to be friends? I don't have details.
So the game began with all of us in prison for various crimes. Bob for accidentally killing a patient on the operating table, Steve for a relatively mundane crime i sort of forget next to his wild backstory. Doyle killed several people and Jade, who herself is a former cop, framed him for at least one other murder. Something to not about Jade is that her player intentionally made her to be a religious fanatic and kind of a bitch.
I didn't personally mind this and it was kind of hilarious how she would antagonize both Steve and Bob and then play the victim when we said anything back. I'm 99% sure that nothing was said that offended anybody IRL and it seemed to be a lighthearted dynamic. I know Steve also liked that element of the roleplay.
Crab was more quiet and In-character disliked Jade but seemed to agree with her on most things out of character. See the top of them knowing one another in real life above.
The game continues like this for a while, I guess. Come session 3, the one other player we were expecting (call him Bernie) was too tired to play due to work and Steve's player was sick (possibly with covid) so he had to bug out. The usual dynamic continues where Jade and Bob joke at one another and see how much they can irritate the other. This culminates in an argument over Jade being French Canadian and how Bob (an Englishman) is contractually obligated to hate her. The argument was a little boring simply because it lacked the usual spice that came with more people getting in on the intentionally stupid, joke argument but yeah. I didn't think anything of it.
We sort of get to a point where Bob took the initiative and did some detective work I'm kind of proud of (not a stat roll, I just figured something out before the other players by chance) and had us arrive at a warehouse that might have given us some clues to an attempted burglary. Before this, Bob and Ernie had done a lot of the heavy lifting of tracking down some information on the gun used in the burglary by one of the burglars.
Door is locked. I want to avoid bashing a window open and alerting anyone. Doyle jumps up to the roof. All good. We need one more person up there to help open the vent to get inside. Jade is smaller than Bob, so he picks her up and throws her. I jokingly say that I throw her as hard as possible so that she hits her head on the exposed roof vent once she lands. (absolutely not the first time these characters have joked about committing violence upon one another, Jade's character liked to threaten people with shootings or "accidents" and she did sort of need to get up there anyway)
So, because of the system and the exertion from the throw, my character falls over from exhaustion and then becomes unconscious. They basically leave my unconscious on the street and do their investigation. Then they come out and the shadows of the street begin to act strangely. Turns out some Nightmares are coming for the comatose Bob.
Again because of the system, the demons appear to basically suck his soul out and permakill him. (I had done a poor job of managing the buildup of exhaustion dice, which is lethal in this hybrid setting) Jade and Doyle basically take on look at the situation, don't even try to fight them off or help my guy, laugh at his impending death and then run away.
Bob dies, obviously. Jade and Doyle's players keep laughing at me and say that it was my fault for "playing my character like an asshole", that I had "contributed nothing with the investigations because the DM would have gotten irritated and handed them the clues anyway" and that "it would have been acceptable if I had played my character like a ""slutty hoe asshole"" instead of a funny asshole". Basically said I deserved it. Dm says to roll a new character.
A little infuriated here. Even if they had felt my character was being too much of an asshole, nobody so much as mentioned this to either me or Steve. I will say that I noticed some tension of a political nature during session 3. My character used the word "retard" to describe a person who was just a normal idiot and not mentally handicapped and they immediately got on his case for using a "slur". There was also a random discussion about "trad-catholics" and how much Jade's player hated traditional women. I think it arose after I mentioned how his character herself was meant to be a parody of a religious lunatic.
I also got some irritated sounds at me after someone brought Biden up out of the blue and I mentioned I'd vaguely prefer that the Donald get in next year simply because I got the impression that Biden was old and at medical risk of keeling over during his time in-office, which would be destabilizing. (Nobody in this game is an American and we all live in the Third World, so that seems like a bizarre thing to obsess over) There were about seven different cheap shots made at people who support capitalism over communism and apparently Bob saying in-character that he preferred the Swedish model rather than Marxism was "not enlightened enough"
The previous session, Jade's player had a small rant about how American Conservatives "still support and allow child marriage". After this session ended and they got done laughing at my dead character and the fac that I'd need to reroll, the conversation turned to religious cults of all things and how "it was really awesome how this one cult would commit murders and then immediately go out for burgers and fries every time to celebrate. It was horrible, but awesome" Also, something I said was intentionally misconstrued as a "rape joke" and I got told off...
Fuck, now that I type this out here, I think I realise why these people would look for an excuse to let my guy get taken out and then say it was my fault... Apparently I wasn't enough of a liberal-edgelord Frankenstein..."

Okay, so I'm genuinely asking without being facetious. How was I not chill? I posted a discussion about a table dispute in the table disputes flair?

Your language and attitude in the post make it clear you are not welcome on r/DnD. We are an open, accepting, and welcoming community, and statements arguing in favor of slurs, calling people "liberal edgelord frankensteins" and your general attitude do not abide by our community values.

I didn't argue in favour of slurs. I mentioned that I said something in-character for the purpose of roleplay which was tied to the setting in question (the word was considered acceptable during that time period and it was used pointedly and only once for the purposes of that same roleplay which had been agreed to beforehand).
I don't feel that it was unreasonable to bring up the paradox of people being overtly intolerant of opposing political opinions that I don't even personal subscribe to while also celebrating death, as was explained in the post. The phrasing "liberal edgelord frankenstein" as not meant as an insult to liberals. I meant it in the sense of the people in question simultaneously espousing liberal views while acting edgy for the sake of it was bizarre, hence the usage of the word "frankenstein" in the sense of several things being hapahazardly cobbled together.
I grant that I was irritated when I made the post and might have been kind of a passive aggressive dick. In hindsight, the mod wouldn't have been wrong for deleting the post and telling me to tone down the agro and repost in a slightly more civil way, but you shouldn't get BANNED for being kind of a dick, especially not permanently and on a first offence.
