Doesn't matter, we're at the point where people are saying it has to hit 0 cases per day, if one person dies it's one person too many!

Millions have died from aids but California now says it's OK to have unprotected sex with aids and not tell your partner that you have aids, but if you want to have thanksgiving with your family you're a monster.

Listen to the science! Scientists change their opinion almost daily, which is to be expected because that's what scientists are supposed to do. There is no "settled science" on covid because it's a new virus - so we have 4 - 5 different levels of scientists (global, federal, state, county, municipal) all saying different things on a weekly basis - not to mention articles like this by cynics or other opinions by radicals or experimental scientists. We can't live a life dictated by scientists working through something they don't yet understand.

If anything, lockdowns have not worked and if we try them again they will not work if we attempt them again. And this silly notion of "we have to keep it up until there are zero new cases" is dangerous and absurd - we haven't eliminated influenza, meningitis or even fucking head lice infections despite massive efforts to do so, polio took decades to eradicate, we can't keep hiding in our basements.

Treat it like we treated SARS or any other outbreak - quarantine the sick, isolate the most vulnerable, let the healthy go about their lives.

I am very happy that i work self-employed in construction and education. Surveying things can't be done in home office so i get around almost every week and my teaching is done classical so with chalk on a blackboard. But i surely can feel with all the people that either have been layed off because of the shutdowns or have to do most of their work from a home-office now.

The sanctions are the real problem not the virus itself imho. Especially for a the children and adolescents.

"schoolchildren are 2x more likely to be struck by lightning"

If you wanted to make this even more obnoxious you could have said they're 3x more likely to be shot in a school shooting. Children die to COVID-19 only in extremely rare cases, so of fucking course you can pick out basically any rare catastrophe to drive home the point that the disease isn't a threat to children.

However, the stat is a red herring, and it's not the children we're trying to save here, but their parents and grandparents. The fact that the stat is in the headline really shows how the author either doesn't understand the issue, or is being deceptive about it.
