Because the moon landing is fake. Flat Earth is probably popular because people are waiting up to the fact that many supposed truth are actually lies. People aren't sure what to believe anymore.

Because they don't teach logic and reason.

My former upstairs neighbour believed in Flat Earth because it was in the Bible and had circular logic about God.
