Russia invaded. They didn't come asking for some kind of deal. The came bearing targeted attacks on civilians. Those small deals, humanitarian corridors, Russia simply violated the agreements.

Zelenskyy attempted diplomacy, but that had only two options. Flee or fight. He hasn't fled.

Yes. Sometimes countries have to do that when they're invaded. You need people to fight off an invader. When the invader is much larger it takes more people than you have in the armed forces. When they're attacking civilian infrastructure, and have several times the ammo, morale is low enough that volunteers are lacking.

Hell, the US did it to man a police action in Vietnam when volunteers were lacking. That's why Donald had to claim to have bone spurs in his feet.
