This Topoisiometase is necessary for the DNA to replicate, together with like 100s of other essential enzymes. Because of the spiral shape DNA gets always stuck into all kinds of knots after replication. So without Topoisometase there would be no replication of DNA. The DNA also encodes this enzyme to make replication of itself possible.
