Interestingly enough, the authors of the original article (which the Guardian signal boosts in this article on the very same day) all served in the same capacity at the UN for their respective countries. Even more interestingly, neither of the Guardian articles bothers to note this connection, even in the authors' bios.

It's almost as though higher-ups at the UN might be wanting a certain outcome and higher-ups at the guardian were more than happy to gargle their balls to that end while trying to keep connections on the down low.
