your welcome. palomar makes amplifiers and transistors, possibly more. a linear amp would be plug and play, but it would take up space, as you would need a 30-50 amps to power the amp depending on the amplifier's build class.

if you go with just the palomar fet transistor, you should be fine with just 20 amps. you will need to solder in the replacement final transistor if you go that route, but it'll save space in your truck.

if you have the money, you can buy the radio off ebay with that mod already done.

Satanic panic type of article which misleads through BAD linking:

First up: 'Cult' why not community or coven (as the Witches usually like to call it)?

Lissa Lucas rose through the ranks of a Wiccan cult to its third level — the highest stage for most Wicca cults — and instructed lower-level Wiccans in occult practices, TheDCNF’s investigation found.

https://blackwitchcoven.com/wicca-a-religion/initiation-for-third-degree-wicca is cited as a source for what this 'Third rank' is while it is not the order to which she belonged which is later named in the article. The link links to a ritual for which there is no evidence her coven does these things and to a site which is focused on the larpy 'black-magic' practice. The Wicca belief doesn't have a book and the book of shadow is (from wikipedia):

In Eclectic Wicca In non-traditional or "eclectic" forms of Wiccan or Neo-pagan practice, the term Book of Shadows is more often used to describe a personal journal, rather than a traditional text. This journal records rituals, spells, and their results, as well as other magical information. This can be either an individual or coven text, and is not normally passed from teacher to student. In many cases, this kind of Book of Shadows is an electronic document (disk or website) instead of a hand-written one. Some reserve the Book of Shadows for recording spells and keep a separate book, sometimes called the Book of Mirrors to contain thoughts, feelings and experiences.

Back to the article, you'll see why I quote the Eclectic Wicca part.

Llysse Smith Wylle has been Pagan for many years and Wiccan for seven,” the description reads. “She is a member of the Third Circle of the Tradition of Universal Eclectic Wicca; she also teaches and coordinates its First Circle degree via the Coven of the Far Flung Net.”

See, This 'Third cirlce' is the third rank named before and differs from coven to coven (some have way more ranks, some have none) From the CUEW wiki (their website is down, as the Far Flung Net... both don't exist anymore for a while):

Types of membership

There are five types of membership recognized in UEW:

Pre-First Circle - those who have only basic knowledge of UEW or Wicca and who will be typically registered for an introductory course in UEW
    First Circle - in which a knowledge of The Five Points of Wiccan Belief must be demonstrated;
    Second Circle - in which a higher degree of knowledge and signing of the oath of practice are required;
Third Circle - in which an independent project has determined a "higher level" of Devotion to a "Path" of UEW; and
    Clergy - ordained ministers.

The photo used in the article seems to have no direct connection to either her or her coven.

As to why she didn't mention it in her campaign: It's usually a more private practice as the journey is personal and not the same for anyone, the coven is there for support but not, like most mainstream religions, to dictate from books on what to do/how to live/what is true. Being a Wicca doesn't say anything about you, your trustworthiness and most certain nothing about your political capabilities, it would be like saying if you wipe from the front or the back, standing or sitting.

Again from their wiki, their views on the 'others' (could be a nice oath for politicians):

Affirmation of Acknowledgement

In addition to the 'Five Points', UEW requires its members to assent to the Affirmation of Acknowledgement, which is intended to inform behavior towards, and interaction with, those of other faiths. It states that:

I: I acknowledge the presence of other faiths on my planet, indeed, right here in my city/town/village. I acknowledge that the followers of these faiths feel as strongly, maybe more so, than I do about mine.

II: I forgive the other faiths and wipe clean the slate between us. I cannot hold a person responsible for the acts of their faith, I cannot hold a faith at fault for individual practitioners. It is not my place to convert, or otherwise alter a person's religion. I invite discussion of beliefs without judgment of those holding them.seems to be down

III: I acknowledge that I may be wrong, and I have found comfort in the fact that I may be right.

Lastly, the title: West Virginia Democratic Candidate Was Pagan Witchcraft Cult Leader

  • Pagan (should be Neopagan or Modern-Pagan, a long explanation as to why: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paganism)
  • Witchcraft (Wicca [and covers the Neopagan thing] is shorter, true it might not do so well when panic stricken people want to google democrat witchcraft)
  • Cult (Already addressed that, slander)
  • Leader (Elder might have been better because Wicca is a personal faith and has no 'Leaders' just a support community and sure the Elders might have more 'wisdom' or 'experience' but that doesn't make them a leader)

I, myself am not a Witch and usually am the one to poke fun at them for cherrypicking copy/pasting older traditions (like alchemy, Hermeticism, Roman-Christianity (Their banishing rituals are usually straight up catholic), the Greeks and various oral traditions and folk-tales) without knowing why those traditions put things a certain way into words/scriptures, but this article can't even do that. Apart from the mail exchange and the social media/biography quotes the article is a rambling of bad (if any) internet searches and TV knowledge.

10 meters is an official ham (amateur) radio band. 10 meter ham radios are allowed alot more power then cb radio. anytone, icom, kenwood and yaesu ham radios often transmit 50-100 watts and sometimes have more features then even the best cb radio out there. the 10 meter band is about 28.4-29.7 MHz, where as 11 meters is 26.965 to 27.405 MHz with an fcc set power limit of 4 watts (12 watts ssb) :)

yea, its pretty cool :) the method i used as an example uses minimodem which is a linux command line application. like cb radio, minimodem is simplex.

this would have to be done as a professional cb radio net, otherwise people would likely be keying over eachother and transmitting data at the same time, and minimodem would just receive it as a jumbled mess.

another data method is SSTV, mainly used by ham radio operators, it can be used on cb radio too. with slow scan tv, a cb radio operator could send a picture to another cb'er.

minimodem would be the preferred method of comm encryption, in any shtf/martial law or other possible scenario requiring privacy. a group of 5 could successfully share audio encrypted information with the help of a net operator :)

LOL :D

yea, the cb radio is alot of fun :) SWR means signal wave ratio, and your swr is very important to making your radio last a long time :) if you have a high swr, that means you have rf power going back into your radio, which isnt good.

the cobra 29 ltd, while it does have alot of good features for the price, it is a fairly basic radio for its time. its considered a good starter radio for those who are getting into the radio stuff. it doesnt have so much that a newcomer is overwhelmed, but it also doesnt have so few features that a newcomer would become bored of it.

higher quality cb radios, like the cobra 2000 gtl or the uniden president washington come with single sideband. SSB is a nice feature of these radios, since the carrier is removed, the transmitter is powered simply by your voice :)

some newer radios like the galaxy dx 959 or the anytone 6666n (this is built as a 10 meter ham radio, but it can be changed to transmit on 11 meters by inputting a code into the radio) have rogerbeeps. while this can be a useful feature, most just like to play with it causing irritation to more professional cb radio operators.

your welcome wellwellwell. its good to be interested in something like this. i look forward to welcoming you to the band when you get your radio :)

mmm, well, you wouldnt wanna go that tall, the losses, even with the best coax the losses would outweigh the gains unless you put in a 100-250 watt kicker behind your radio, then it would help. preferrably you would want 80 foot tower max.

my ranges are by my area, i get prolly 60 miles tops in certain directions, with my antenna about 30 feet high.

this is a good starter video for ya :)

So, say you have access to radio towers of around 300-400 feet. If you set the radio up at the base of this tower, would that give you access to a couple hundred miles? And is weather a factor?

I haven't read an intro guide on cb radios yet. My dad builds radio towers, I need to pick his brain this weekend!

Curious by i_cansmellthat in 11MRadio

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Its not about the radio, its the about the antenna you use with the radio. The cobra 29 ltd is a good radio, but you could have the best cb ever made and not get far if you don't have a good antenna.

With a good antenna 30-40 feet high, you'll get 35-55 miles running it as a base, mobile setup, 15-25 miles with a good antenna. I'm giving mileage ranges cause it depends on how the land is, if you have big hills between you and other operators, they won't receive you as well if at all running barefoot.

Wavin and welcome to the cb radio sub.

11 meter cb radio is largely unregulated, unless you attract attention. Depending on how you operate your station, it can be safe. The closest thing to censorship on the band would be an agitator with a box.

The band is monitored, but by just hobbyists. In today's world of smart phones, their eyes are elsewhere. You can use various methods of rf encryption over 11 meters, they just don't like it.

Cb radios will be the best shtf radio, as no license is needed for operation. I believe when martial law is "officially" activated, ham radio operators will be told they can no longer operate.

Hope you like it, your welcome. If your interested in cb radio, a good starter radio is the cobra 29 ltd.
