(Saidit) PEAK TRANS I: Please continue to share your stories!! by Irascible-harpy in GenderCritical

Was part of an online group themed around something nerdy, I really loved the group and the content they produced. I joined and soon noticed that more and more of them were coming out as transwomen. I saw the social contagion happen in real time over the course of a couple of months. I had originally supported trans people, but I started being irked when I saw these men, who seemed to never have spoken with a real female, claim that they were now 'women.'

I was once at a public event with them and there was a Q&A where they were asked whether there were any women in the group, and a TiM perked up and was like 'OH ME' and then they pointed to 2 or 3 other TiMs in the group. I was the only real woman there, and I wasn't pointed out.

Soon I started experiencing blatant misogyny from the members of the group, and when I pointed out the mental illnesses and sexism prominent among the TiMs and the fact that I was the only biological woman in the group, they attacked me and tried to destroy my reputation and called me a 'TERF.' I had never heard of that term before, but I left there and discovered GenderCritical :)

I don't trust TiMs anymore, and I don't trust autistic men either. The internet is filled with a lot of sick people who love to bully others. I've moved onto better things in my life now.

I emailed the Working Partners at https://coolabi.com/about-us/#contact with the following:

I support Gillian Philip

Hello,

I have adored the Warrior Cats books from when I was in elementary school, and I was very dismayed to see that Gillian Philip was fired for supporting JK Rowling's right to free speech. There are very active communities online of trans rights activists who make it their hobby to brigade and mass spam companies about their 'transphobia,' and their goal is to censor any thought that doesn't completely go with their narrative. Ms. Philip should have the right to speak her mind and especially support the right to free speech. It greatly disappoints me that an author as talented as her would be censored.

I know you've already fired her, and so it is unlikely that you'd reverse your decision so soon, but please know that I will now be boycotting the Warrior books and any other properties your group produces, until you make it clear that you support the right to free speech.

Thank you for your time, [name]

I love these books... This is horrible. These people are so cruel and mentally ill.

It was a good sub, although I wish there were more women there. The way they talk about women makes me uncomfortable sometimes, although I think they have good intentions usually. Also the new .win site seems to have a lot of posts referring to the users there as 'kings', which makes me feel excluded. Lol these are minor gripes and they can do whatever they want of course, I just wish I'd be more comfortable looking at the content there because they make a lot of good points.

I think it'd be easier to read if you'd have copied and pasted the original text and provided the source, just for readability. Otherwise, a very important classic read

Idk I still can't tell the difference.

I really hope NeovaginaDisasters gets revived, its a good resource and this content would fit there. I'd do it myself but I don't have time to moderate.

Question from a local Saiditor: Why is it that trans-women (men) continue to receive public support from Reddit, YouTube, and general social media? by Tom_Bombadil in GenderCritical

[–]kangaujack 14 insightful - 3 fun14 insightful - 2 fun15 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

As a female, I agree with his observation. We don't like when women are stereotyped, so I think we should avoid stereotyping men who would otherwise be willing to join our fight. Divisiveness is not going to help us win this fight. Let's welcome allies and remember what we're really fighting for here.

That's a good question. But I'm concerned for anyone who finds those shudders images even remotely pornographic, as in sexually arousing.

To be fair, I also tried posting some stuff that wasn't inflammatory at all, just trying to get a GC perspective on media properties like certain video games and movies, especially where the subject of women's and other diversity is a prominent feature of those properties. Those posts weren't approved, even though I thought those familiar with the subject would offer some interesting perspectives.

I don't know how moderating a forum like this works, must be a lot of work. But I wish it'd be just a tad looser.
