it's constantly creating administrative messes and misunderstandings that I have to clean up, and it's exhausting.

Imagine if information about where report go was available, imagine if there were proper rules, imagine if you'd evenly apply them based on observed evidence instead of feels?

Months and months of this.

I tried for almost a year to influence this site in a positive direction. Now I'm going to spend a year to try to force this site in a positive direction.

This is for everybody else that will join the site after hearing you announcing it as "how reddit used to be". Reddit never was like this, and the people, which this site is 98% dependent on deserve the truth upfront or a willingness to compromise from the site admins.

it has caused me an awful lot of headaches over the last few months.

"headaches" in the metaphorical sense, a feeling of being tricked, a frustration due to despotic admins (not when it comes to banning but a lot of other things), a hopelessness for this site, the last regular reddit clone for me.

It's the long-term pattern of doing this that makes me frustrated, not just this one instance.
