Imho the Catholic Church is a separate issue, those are low-level priests whose actions were covered up

I like to think of this as in corruption: It's not the same a banker pulling strings to evade taxes and some guy who fixes your freezer and gets paid cash without declaring taxes. But usually the knowledge of higher spheres of crime makes the individual don't feel like their actions are "bad"
