Yeah I think that's what the quote is getting at. Some people like to hang their hat on some ideology and just call it a day, but to me that is like a type of mental stagnancy that prohibits growth

Kinda, but no.

Her life isn't affected. It's only ending because she's over 70. She may have another 30+ years. Likely less. She lives in a pale rich old people's condo with a spectacular view across the river of Detroit to the north, and she cringes every time I say she literally lives in an ivory tower or that I live in a dungeon.

OR

Her live began to end a looooong time ago when she young and programmed not to care. Sure she does her weekly volunteering at the second hand store raising funds for charity, but that's just a little social club to pat themselves on the back. It's local and helps and it's not nothing, but it's hardly revolutionary policy change or the real improvements everyone needs.
