As far as I know it's perfectly constitutional, but I'm hardly a constitutional scholar.

However, if you ask me this is going to be Yet Another Fucking Thing that blows up in the Dem's face. If Trump runs that's going to be problematic. Biden was able to beat him, and nobody liked Biden all that much in '00. Looking at the 50% or what ever the number of Republicans who want Trump to run doesn't take into account the people who will vote against the party in that instance.

Jan 6th discourages Trump to run again, makes Republican chances better.
