Seems likely, and who among us could wish otherwise? (aside from the 99%) I've seen the world population double. More relevantly, I've seen my local population double, transforming a lovely small town into an unpleasant and overcrowded hellhole. (at least in comparison to how it used to be) The cancerous 'growth at every cost' model can't run indefinitely.

That's an enormous black pill, but it explains why the modern world, and humanity itself, suck so badly. Kind of removes all hope, but there's also some relief (?) in finally knowing what happened.
