Half the people on this site are science-deniers and MAGAtards, yes. Both when I was in the military and now that I'm going to school I've always been surrounded by science-minded people, and as a result I haven't run into an open young-earth creationist in about a decade. Yet they are everywhere here. The frontpage is usually dominated by a mix of conspiracies, shitty memes, and right-wing fake news.

It's not "everyone". Just "everyone" on this site.

Ah, that's hilarious. People in the military being educated. Well, my friend, you haven't had the same experience I had. What are you even doing here, government-dog?

In the Air Force at least, the mid-level NCOs tend to have 2-year degrees. The Senior NCOs tend to move up to a Bachelors. To be any kind of Officer, you need a Bachelors, and that needs to become a Masters if you want to make Major. So with the exception of the Junior Enlisted which usually only have diplomas, they are actually fairly educated.

It is highly amusing - though not at all surprising - that you didn't know anything about the topic, but didn't let that stop you from running your mouth. About what I've come to expect from most of the tards on Saidit.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

"Tards." This is what I expect from eight graders, and folks who've spent time in the military without washing themselves clean of all that brainwashing.

Mm. The military is overwhelmingly filled with noncoms, uneducated brainwashed bumpkins, unless I am wrong concerning how many useless desk jobs there are in the States.

I'm going to school

Social justice?

I would suggest you actually spend time doing your "studies" instead of trolling forums, demonstrating your youthful inexperience.

Engineering. Come on, I said I've always been surrounded by science-minded people; that should have given you a hint. Grievance scholars only respect the science when it supports their political agenda.

I've rarely met a military type that could grasp divergent or abstract thinking. Just wired different. I don't know if it's a chicken or egg thing where those types gravitate to being told what to do and think or if the military drills that mental capacity out of them.

I believe it. The social connections you make are gonna tend to be with your equals. Smart people tend to network with other smart people, and average people...

[–]Velocity 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (6 children)

Thereby, you network with military minded people who have been conditioned to not question authority. Creating a confirmation bubble around yourself. I employ a fair amount of ex military design engineers...while usually they show up on time, they definitely struggle with creativity and innovation.

That's fine, we call them cogs...they don't question, they do what they're told. Good cog wheels in my business machine.

[–]FediNetizen 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (5 children)

Lol. Maybe I'm getting you confused with a different right-wing tard, but I seem to recall you were the one that claimed COVID-19 was just the flu sometime during the summer. Not a conclusion one should come to if they possess any real critical critical thinking skills. You are just as dumb as the rest of them, and seniority doesn't change that.

And on a side note, it is highly amusing that you accuse me, a left-leaning guy that is very pro-science and that chooses to hang out on a site dominated by right-leaning and/or conspiracy-minded folks, of wrapping myself in a confirmation bubble, and are doing so while you yourself are choosing to spend time on said site, where you happen to fit right in. And you are doing so without any apparent shred of self-awareness.

[–]Velocity 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (4 children)

It's all very highly amusing. Very highly. The only place I'm on is Saidit? I news aggregate and collect common consensus across a range of outlets. I don't limit myself to possibilities and viewpoints. You are unable to approach a topic with an open mind by dissolving assumed boundaries to be able to more fully comprehend a disputed subject.

Much assumption with you. I sense that you are beholden more towards arrogance than being intellectual.

People like you work for people like me. Get to work cog.

Ps...Waiting for your smug remark, because everyone including your family knows you have to get the last word in to prove to everyone how right and smart you are. Tiresome. Grow up.

If you think the point you're trying to make here holds water, then that makes what you said before about me wrapping myself in a confirmation bubble even dumber. The only site you know I spend time on is one where I'm clearly not trying to live in a bubble.

I news aggregate and collect common consensus across a range of outlets.

It's a range of right-wing outlets if you managed to convince yourself that COVID-19 is the flu.

You are unable to approach a topic with an open mind by dissolving assumed boundaries to be able to more fully comprehend a disputed subject.

I approach plenty of topics with an open mind. I actually used to not believe climate change was real or human-caused until I was in my early 20s. The difference is I actually analyze the merits of the claims before accepting them as true, and I also recognize that a lot of questions only have one correct answer. AGW is one such example: either the primary cause of this global warming trend is human activity, or it isn't. It can't simultaneously be both.

Much assumption with you.

I can't believe it. You seriously sandwiched this in between a bunch of assumptions of your own about my character. No..wait. I can believe it.

I sense that you are beholden more towards arrogance than being intellectual.

Well, sort of. My whole life I've always been the smart one. Got into the job with the highest aptitude score requirements of any of the ~150 air force careers. Did that aptitude testing when I was 17, when a lot of my peers were more in their 20s with a lot of them having some college under their belt. Still had higher aptitude scores than most of them. When I was 25, I took a proper sit-down proctored IQ test. Scored in the 130s. While I'm not at the genius level, I do have the aptitude to excel at whatever I feel like.

But really, what you're picking up on here is not so much about me as it is about you. I have no respect for people that come to wonky conclusions or fall for obvious fake news. "COVID-19 is the flu" is one such example. It doesn't help that your response is to point towards your seniority rather than any real professional accolades or career accomplishments. Speaking of which...we've been having this back & forth since 3PM Eastern on a Monday. Could there be a connection there?

People like you

Younger people, yes.

work for people like me.

Older people. Yes, that's how it works. I'm aware of how seniority plays into a typical professional hierarchy.

Get to work cog.

Lol, I'd stake a fair amount of money I'll end up being better than you at everything I ever do. But sure sure, right away sir!

[–]Velocity 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Couldn't even exercise the self discipline to not respond? 10/10 bait.

My whole life I've always been the smart one.

I sense that you are beholden more towards infatuation with your arrogance than being intellectual.

Scored in the 130s.

You're not the brightest by my higher standards, but ok for a military cog.

I'll end up being better than you at everything I ever do.

That's what they all say. If you could...you would of by now, but no...its back to skoooololol for you! Also that arrogance again.

Older people.

Assumptions.

response is to point towards your seniority rather than any real professional accolades or career accomplishments.

You're mistaking seniority for achievement. I have no interest in sharing personal details other than an obligatory overview relevant to the conversation at hand. I've created many successful businesses throughout my life. Entrepreneurialism takes skills and aptitude that cannot be learned and that you are clearly destitute in.

Consider taking an opportunity to reflect on how conceited you are. Maybe you have suspected this and cannot see the forest because of the trees. Address it now on your terms, or you will be forced to come to terms with it in the future not on your terms. Ignore my suggestion at the peril of your future happiness.

You sure spend a lot of time on forums, and I suspect you troll around quite a bit. Maybe spend some time bettering yourself instead of spewing your pseudo intellectual masturbation all over communities that never asked for or in your eyes even deserve your dubious presence.

Then leave instead of bawling

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Indeed - I think I can count perhaps 6 users who are mainly responsible for this trend of propaganda. It seems Saidit is one of the places where a right-wing enthusiast can spread misinformation and disinformation, get plenty of attention, and thereby feel self-affirmed. But it's also interesting to see that there are quite a few users here who occasionally let those 6 know that they're wrong. I think there would be more engagement at this site if there were more of a mix of posts. My reason for joining Saidit is mainly curiosity about the group of people who believe in right-wing conspiracies. I'd rather avoid Parler and TheDonald. Saidit seems to parrot some of that material.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

What is interesting is that a lot of users here hate Donald Trump and are mostly moderates. The main threads do seem to come from Trumpists though, but that's not always true. u/FediNetizen has made plenty of posts which generate conversation, and that dude is super-establishment.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Saidit is such an 'interesting' place
