I'm consistently astonished by our world capitalism. We have the unprecedented capacity to produce any material human need, in quantities that allow for equal distribution and further for excess. We even have the capacity to create every mental or spiritual need. We could create excess jobs and meaning and purpose for these people through sharing of ownership of our factories and corporations.

Yet, just as we throw away excess bread at the end of a bakery shift, we throw away excess labor and latent talent through cultural subjugation and repetitive manual labor.

I may sound like I'm waxing communist, but I am firmly in the capitalist sphere. I just believe our current version of capitalism is corrupt and the people who have been entrusted to manage our capitalism have lost sight of what the true goals of a capitalist society should be: increased wealth and health and liberty for everyone through participation by everyone.

Simple.

It's a Ponzi scheme between generations.

I'm with you man. Co-ops and ethical consumerism and boycott is the only way forward. I for one am willing to put significant time and energy into it... if only I knew where to get started. Local food co-ops and credit unions are already having great success.
