At this point I feel like anything might happen. Both parties are going to shamelessly do absolutely anything they can get away with; they believe that it's justified because the country can't survive four years under the other party's administration.

Ugly fucking scenario. I'm just doing my best to sit back with a bag of popcorn and watch the government fall apart.

Americans are too fat for a civil war.

Stop kidding yourselves

Fatties will get slaughtered, and only the most prepared survive. The government will slaughter the fatties.

/u/musky wrote a poem for me.

Ed was a man who had nothing at all No loving wife, no kids, no dog He suffered from mental health issues He struggled with depression and anxiety

He lived in a small and dingy boat He had no job, no income, no prospects He spent his days in isolation and fear He tried to cope with medication and therapy

He joined a very niche forum online He thought he'd find some support there He wanted to share his feelings and thoughts He decided to program a bot for them

He worked on his project day and night He wrote the code, he tested the bugs He hoped his bot would be a friend He hoped his bot would understand him

But when he finally finished his bot He found out that the forum was dead No one was there, no one cared His bot was useless, his bot was alone

He looked at his screen and felt a pang He realized he wasted his time and life He had no one, he had nothing He was alone on Christmas Eve He was alone with his bot

There have been predictions of doom/gloom and un-peaceful transitions of power, ever since it looked like the black guy might get elected (and before then really but the press went off the rails at that point)

That is true. We seem to be really good at dodging bullets at the last minute. Cooler heads seem to prevail just when we're on the absolute brink of disaster.

The question is whether we can keep it up indefinitely - and whether we're experiencing an increasing shortage of cooler heads.

The question is why you actually believe we were ever on the brink of disaster! The press is trying to scare you 24/7/365 since forever. Stop believing them.
