Get government out of the Church. That's my position. Government should have absolutely zero to do with the institution of marriage.

The institution of marriage doesn't come from the church. It exists in nearly every culture around the world.
The church didn't even get involved in marriage until around 1000 years ago. The first 1000 years of Christianity marriages were all civil contracts.

I understand that to the atheist this is historically observable, however for we Christians marriage is a binding covenant between a man, woman, and God. The State has nothing to do with it effectually.
