They are also saying it's sexist because there are no women in his works. I see what they're saying but it's just a product of his time. Maybe as a man he just preferred creating male characters, that's his choice and completely fine, there are women who do the same with female characters. Never stopped me from enjoying the work when I was a child. It would only be a problem if there were barely any women/girls depicted in kids books but that isn't the case. More storms in teacups that make people take real problems less seriously because they're exhausted by absurdities like this.

Off hand IIRC, there were often a brother and sister (Cat In The Hat, Hop On Pop, Thing 1&2, Star Bellies, etc.), and of course Little Suzie or whatever her name was from The Grinch.
