I'm down with the south except for: scorpions, poisonous snakes.

I've never seen a scorpion. I just heard they're supposedly migrating to a wider portion of Texas, but not sure that's not just legacy media bullshit like the whole killer bee thing that never ended up being a big deal.
And so far I haven't dealt with any poisonous snakes I didn't go looking for.

Looks like San Antonio and Austin has some, but it's mostly an AZ and NM thing.
