If it were a serious plan they would never have made it public. This is just more theater.

Or they are actually shipping the jets via a different country.

Isn't there a bit in the Darkest Hour film were Roosevelt says can they fly planes to the Canadian border and then roll them across but they can't just fly them to Britain. This sort of thing is quite common.
