Different things can be called equality. Equality before the law, equality of opportunity, equality of outcome. The word "justice" is equally shifty, its meaning changes with the observer.

Good justice can only happen when everyone is the same, has similar values. This can happen naturally in harsh lands, where certain traits are mandatory for survival. This can happen artificially under equality before the law, since people with incompatible traits end up dead as well.

Justice that only pleases its administrator, is a shitty justice. Equality that assigns you to a group irregardless of how much you have in common with its members, and then alters your rights based on the whim of some politician, is a shitty equality.
