If the food is so bad people are faking religious conversions to get better quality, maybe there's a problem with the food? I don't know if Scottish prisons are as bad as US prisons, but the prison system should not be dehumanizing, it should be a place where people are encouraged to correct their path, which works better if you treat them with respect and not merely as a budgetary burden.
