"I am so forward looking to have an opportunity..."

Also, the, "I shouldn't say it", was him covering up for losing his train of thought.

Yeah he did that in earlier interviews too.

Dumb and dumber : the us election.

Just wondering: if Joe didn't have uh... "cognitive issues" would the eight years he served as veep give him an edge? I mean this is literally not his first rodeo. He would have seen what worked and what didn't during Obama's tenure and surely would have come out the other side wiser and more seasoned (one would think).

Fair question, and, what looks like an honest attempt at a conversation. Almost surprising...

So my opinion on this is that politicians don't need experience in politics to do the job. They need experience in leadership, since decision making, temperament, and personnel management skills will determine their competence. To me, a career politician is someone who might never had to develop any of those skills, just learned the game of power. But they might not even be good at it. Most of the politicians got to where they were at because of their connections or their usefulness to the true rulers. Meanwhile, the knowledge that a politician needs can either be learned in the first week, or acquired from competent advisors.

I don't believe Trump is a great example of someone who DOES have the skills to be a politician. If he was, he would have maintained the same support he had from Hollywood and the media right before he decided to switch to a republican and run for president. The black community and liberals that all loved him wouldn't have abandoned him and started the most massive smear campaign in US history. That fact that he can't explain his position for shit doesn't help either. I agree with nearly all of his political moves, but he completely fails at drawing the appropriate support for them. That's a shitty leader.

Regarding Biden, I don't know enough about his decision making skills, but he fails the temperament test. He likely fails at personnel management considering his lack of experience (did he lead anyone as VP? I could be wrong here) and that he didn't do a great job with leading a family if his kid is a deadbeat dad, junkie and obvious criminal. I haven't seen a single thing from him that impresses me, and his political ideology is endless totalitarianism, so he will never get my support.

Not going to act like any of the libertarians I vote for would have been amazing leaders, but at least they operating under sound ideologies that would make this country a better place. Which is probably what everyone else thinks when they go vote for their "lesser of two evils" presidential pick.

Yeah, as far as I know the veep doesn't really do anything beyond photo ops and other banal stuff that the potus doesn't feel like doing. He's basically just an understudy for the president. I agree that Biden isn't the right candidate. Mental acuity and ideology aside, I don't think people beyond retirement age should be elligible to run the most powerful nation on earth. If that makes me "ageist" then so be it... Ultimately, it's just really sad to see the US lurch from one horror show to the next.

[–]72ndGender 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

You pointed out something I feel pretty strongly about. The age thing. It's not a damn prejudice to say that elderly people shouldn't be put in the highest positions of power. A cap at 65 to run is very reasonable.

But here is my prediction, which I would bet money on. Biden is an intentionally bad candidate because the DNC made a deal with the GOP to blow the race in return for putting anyone they want into office in 2024. That person will likely be Biden's running mate, for free exposure, but that's not a guarantee. They are intentionally putting out fake polls to show Biden as the clear winner because it will make dems feel comfortable not voting, since they think it's a done deal. Then Trump wins and the freak out begins. The 2024 candidate will begin campaigning immediately, and will 100% for sure be a non-white woman.

A non-white woman would have stood a better chance of winning than Biden in this cycle though. Contrary to the left's belief, the US isn't racist nor sexist and would happily vote for someone if they were a good candidate.

I agree with everything you wrote. But the reason they aren't running one is to allow Trump another four years before getting a no-brainer victory that won't have any real competition from the republicans. At this point, I'm sure the GOP and DNC rulers are doing backroom negotiations about who gets what, and when they get it.

I think your prediction will turn out to be spot on...

[–]FediNetizen 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

A cap at 65 to run is very reasonable.

Yeah, but presumably that would be a constitutional amendment, and good luck getting that passed when it's old people that vote.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Joe would dominate if he wasn't cognitively fading fast.

For all the criticism he gets, Biden has displayed remarkable political meandering over his career hence his fluid views. While normal people would view that as a strike against his integrity, who tf cares? It's politics. If he can be an ideological chameleon and stay in power for well over 4 decades, then he has political skill. He certainly had way more political acumen then everyone else on the democratic debate stage, including Bernie.

Definitely a strong candidate when he isn't senile. Unfortunately... I'm not even sure he'll make it to November.

[–]FediNetizen 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

He doesn't even need to make it to November, though. Mail-in voting means most of it will be done in September and October. All the dude has to do is not expose himself for maybe another 45 days or so, and he's probably set.

Whyyyy can't they pick someone younger?

This year, boomers officially became the minority again. The tide is turning. Can we STOP catering everything to them now??

[–]FediNetizen 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Technically this guy is part of the silent generation. You're a boomer if you were born after people came home from WW2 and started popping out kids.

[–]america_first_1776 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

This guy cannot become president. I know he wouldn’t actually be running the show even if he was competent. However, the vast majority of the country, and the western world for that matter, still assumes the POTUS to be the one calling the shots. The POTUS also can’t be viewed as someone with dementia because it would signal to the elites that we are willing set to be forced into third world standards

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 6 fun3 insightful - 5 fun4 insightful - 6 fun -  (6 children)

I'm sorry to break the news to you but.. the current POTUS has dementia too, and a severe case of NPD.

[–]america_first_1776 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Complete false whataboutism

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

No no, you see they BOTH have dementia! Fallacy refuted.

[–]onemoredaydream 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

No no, YOU have dementia. And I do too.

[–]FediNetizen 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's not whataboutism if it's false.

I can't diagnose dementia, but watching that Axios interview, Trump does not seem like he has it all together upstairs. Some kind of cognitive decline wouldn't surprise me.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I don't think he has dementia. Trump is a difficult man to predict because his mental and verbal competence are completely disparate. He makes oddly calculated moves that doesn't reflect his idiotic verbal diarrhea so he's pretty hard to pin down.

[–]FediNetizen 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Is it him making those moves or is he just listening to advice from more competent people working for him?

[–]Jesus 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Two ZioCons running for the executive officer of the United States inc., will you make a contract to vote and relinquish your rights, or will you be partisan hacks?

[–]SaidOverRed 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I never liked him before but I just feel sorry for him at this point. No one should slowly lose their mind in the public eye.

'Listen, fat junkie...'

[–]StBlops2cel_is_Lord 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

OP, are you a junkie???

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Biden should take a cognitive test when Trump releases the results of his cognitive test

[–]america_first_1776 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

At least Trump is consistent on the answer as to whether he took a cognitive test at all

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Biden never had it. And you are electing sme like him.

[–]twolanterns 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

such a disgrace and those abusing this senile old man should go to prison for propping up an incompetent and endangering the country
